Funding

The amount of Nordic-level funding available is small in comparison to national funding resources. It is therefore essential for NordForsk to cooperate with the national financing bodies and facilitate joint initiatives within the financial framework of a Nordic common pot.

NordForsk allocates funding to cover expenses associated with implementing collaboration at the Nordic level, while most of the research activity itself is funded by national sources. Support from NordForsk comprises supplementary funding for cooperation between researchers who are already receiving grants from national or other research funders.

The Nordic-level funding is intended to generate value added that enhances the quality, visibility and applicability of the research conducted.

NordForsk awards grants on the basis of open funding announcements and peer review procedures. Calls for proposals and related information are publicised on the NordForsk website and the NordForsk Application Portal.
