Nanospintronics - Theory and Simulation
This network performs theoretical research on nanoscale spintronics and trains Ph.D students.
Miniaturisation of electronics devices has remarkably transformed our society during the last few decades. To develop the technology further, new basic working principles are needed. In this endeavour, theoretical modeling and simulation of nanostructures play an important role.
One promising new idea, presently attracting great attention, is the use of the electron spin in information processing devices. These ’spin-electronic’ or ’spintronic’ devices, differ qualitatively from conventional devices, which use only the electronic charge.
The network will:
- support students and researchers visiting other network groups
- organise yearly workshops
- offer specialised Ph.D courses
- serve as a resource of knowledge
