Nordic Research Training Course on Methods in Human Rights Research
Leading scholars from Nordic, European and African universities will address various methods and approaches that they have employed in their own research, including interdisciplinary, comparative, socio-legal and anthropological approaches. In addition, the role of the researcher will be analysed in a session on ethical perspectives of human rights research and practice.
In addition to presentations by experts, the course will be composed of seminar sessions where the PhD candidates may present methodological chapters from their doctoral projects for discussion and commenting by the Faculty members and peers.
The course caters for PhD candidates and young researchers from all Nordic countries (some seats will be reserved for Baltic and African researchers).
This course is based on long-term cooperation between:
- The Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University
- Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at University of Lund
- Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at University of Oslo
- The Danish Institute for Human Rights
- The Icelandic Centre for Human Rights
Since 2002 this cooperation has been further facilitated by the Nordic Network on Human Rights Research, jointly coordinated by the institutes in Oslo and Åbo.
