Fellowships, Salaries and Other costsAre there fixed rates for all NordForsk fellowships? What is included? What are the rates? When NordForsk has stipulated fixed rates for fellowships and/or salaries, these must be used. When these are not stipulated as fixed rates, the employer’s agreements and instructions for such shall apply. Mobility fellowships for visiting professors and senior researchers This type of funding is given only in connection with a large-scale programme or when explicitly mentioned in a call text. Mobility fellowships for visiting professors and senior researchers normally cover visits from one to twelve months at fixed rates. The fixed rates are NOK 40 000 for each of the first two months and NOK 20 000 for each subsequent month. The mobility fellowship is used to cover direct costs in connection to the visit, such as travel and living expenditures. Salaries: When Nordforsk cover costs for salaries, these are mainly granted as a lump sum to the Project Manager. The use of the lump sum, including individual salary, is determined by the employer. Salary regulations, agreements and other instructions concerning employment in force at the employer must be complied with. Other costs: NordForsk allows up to 20% overhead on all funding used to cover salaries. Of other funding NordForsk allows up to 10% to be used for administrative costs directly related to the management of the project. Accomodation and travel costs should be kept as moderate as possible, accommodation costs should not exceed NOK 1 500 a day. For the time being, NordForsk has determined fixed rates for: Mobility fellowships for visiting professors and senior researchers This type of funding is given only in connection with a large-scale programme or when explicitly mentioned in a call text. Nordic Stem Cell Mobility Programme: Full fellowships for post-doctoral researchers Fellowships are granted as a lump sum of maximum 800 000 Norwegian Kroner to the receiving institution. The rate is Nordforsk’s contribution to salary, social security, other personnel costs, basic facilities, travelling costs related to the research and extra costs for facilitating Nordic cooperation. The use of the lump sum, including individual salary, is determined by the employer. Salary regulations, agreements and other instructions concerning employment in force at the receiving institution must be complied with. In addition, the applicant is entitled to a resettlement grant, intended to meet the establishment and additional costs of living abroad, as well as travel expenses. The rates are NOK 5000 single/10 000 family per month. The applicant is also entitled to get reimbursement of the direct costs related to relocation. Private Public Partnership (PPP) PhD Projects Costs covered by NordForsk:
The enterprise can be directed to repay any grant received if it terminates or prevents the scheduled implementation of a PPP PhD project that university and student have an interest in and the potential to complete. NordForsk does not pay salary contributions to the enterprise during the PhD student’s leave of absence. If the programme is temporarily interrupted due to leave of absence, such as sickness or parental leave, the enterprise should notify NordForsk in writing before commencement of the leave of absence. The enterprise is obliged to compensate any extension of the project period caused by temporary interruption according to its ordinary regulations and national rules.
