Nordic Stem Cell Mobility Programme 2007- 2010
NordForsk’s mobility programme for post-doc stem cell researchers aims to support stem cell research within the Nordic countries, promoting Nordic collaboration and contributing to building a well trained cohort of Nordic researchers in this field.
Available calls are published on the NordForsk application portal

Outstanding Nordic researchers shall be given the opportunity to work with prominent research institutes and scientific teams within the Nordic countries as well as other post-doctoral researchers, perhaps eventually qualifying for a leading position within stem cell research.
By creating a network of leading Nordic institutes and experts within this area, the programme can contribute to enhancing knowledge and collaboration, forming a foundation for future national and Nordic stem cell research.
Funding
Each grant-holder in this programme receives 1 Million Norwegian Kroner (NOK) a year for up to three years. The post-doc shall spend the first 2,5 years of this period in a stem cell research group/institution in a Nordic country other than the country of residence. For the last six months the researcher may return to the country of origin, or go to a third Nordic country, transferring new research ideas and knowledge between the countries, with the ultimate aim of building up their own research group.
Eligible applicants are PhD degree holders based in a Nordic country or returning to the Nordic region, with projects targeting stem cell research. Grant holders will be expected to dedicate their entire working time to the research project during the period of the grant.
Grants are normally administered by a Nordic university/institution or public organisation with research as its purpose, and applications must include a receiving institution or research group within stem cell research in a Nordic country. Research projects may include cooperation between academia and industry.
The following post-doc projects are currently funded within this programme (2007-2010):
1. Hekla Sigmundsdottir, “Clinical role of leukemia stem cells in chronic myelogenous leukaemia”
2. Janne Jensen, “3D systems for differentiation of embryonic stem cells into hepatocytes”
3. Julian Walfridsson, “The role of the H3K27me3 demethylase UTX in stem cell differentiation”
4. Linda Paulson, “Proteomic studies to find surface markers in adult neural and cancer stem cells”
