NERA 42nd congress: Education for sustainable development

Education for sustainable development – only big words for politicians or a responsibility for education workers?

Time and place

Radisson Blu Lillehammer Hotel, Norway 05.03.2014 to 07.03.2014

The UN decade “Education for sustainable development” has come to an end. This congress will take a closer look at its goals. Have there been more than slogans for policy initiatives? Have we seen any real changes in curriculas, teaching and learning, planning and developing school buildings? Have educational policies in hundreds of national educational systems all over the world been transformed?

Educational researchers should be able to answer these questions and in the congress participants will have the opportunity to discuss and debate them. All are invited to take part in the discussion, even if your research interests may be in other directions.

The overarching goal of this congress is that participants will be able to explore and understand the relevance of sustainable development for their daily work with educational problems and policies.

The Congress will be organized in cooperation between the Faculty of Education and Social Work at Lillehammer University College, Norway and Nordic Educational Research Association.
