The lecturers will each present a review of the methods' origin and advantages and disadvantages for B&M studies research. Each lecturer also presents personal experience with the method. John Howells used grounded theory for his doctoral study of the development of a biotechnology and in the study of the design and implementation of an ICT.
Nathalie Mitev used actor network theory for her study of the implementation of advanced scheduling software in the French train network. Richard Coopey, amongst other accomplishments, published a history of Europe‘s leading venture capital bank, 3i. In the second half of the course, we run a workshop where students critique articles selected by the seminar presenters as exemplifying the three methods. Students are also expected to discuss the value of one of the methods for their own work.
