100 million DKK for the Humanities

28.11.2005
In Denmark, the research council for culture and communication has decided to grant 100 million DKK for more than 60 new research projects in the humanities. The projects cover the entire field of the humanities.
"Most of the applications were high quality", says chair of the research council for culture and communication, Kirsten Drotner. The talent mass is large in the humanities:
"The budget cuts in the humanities faculties makes it difficult to recruit and keep new generations of researchers. The research council wants to contribute to giving the best young researchers a boost on their way to an academic career", says Drotner. She adds that experienced researchers who have been granted funding for large projects show great willingness to enter new constellations, often across the established disciplinary boundaries.
