Continued actions for quality in Swedish research

The Swedish government and Minister of Research Thomas Östros states in a press release that that they are increasing fundings for quality in higher education and research.

Universities and colleges will yet receive SEK 102 million to strengthen the humanities, social sciences, law and theology during 2003. Nursing educations will also be strengthened and quality improved through a funding of SEK 194 million in 2003. The Swedish Research Council will receive additionally SEK 252 million in 2003.

Research training is an important strategic aspect for the future and the need for candidates is increasing both in the university sector and in society as a whole. The fundings for research and research training will be increased with SEK 211 million in 2003, part of this amount goes to the graduate schools established in 2001.
