Dane will lead European medical research

Dr. med. Liselotte Højgaard is appointed as new head of the association of European medical research councils. "We need a stronger European medical research," she says.
Liselotte Højgaard is Chief physician and a department director at the Rigshospitalet national hospital in Denmark and a professor at Copenhagen University. She is experienced in international research cooperation and policy work.

"We need a stronger European medical research focussed on quality. The USA and Asia are investing strategically and extensively - and their relative part of the medical research fundings is large. We are skillful in Denmark, but we are small," says Liselotte Højgaard.

The European Medical Research Councils (EMRC) has made it their objective to strenghten the development of a common European research strategy in bilogical, biomedical and clinical research.
