ERA framework public consultation

02.12.2011
The European Commission’s open consultation on the future framework for ERA closed November 30th. Find NordForsk’s response to the open consultation here.

The political context for this initiative is provided by the Europe 2020 and its Flagship initiative Innovation Union, which announces and ERA Framework and supporting measures in 2012, in order to complete the ERA. These measures include both legislative and non-legislative initiatives, to remove obstacles to researcher mobility and cross-border research co-operation.

The ERA future framework is meant to form a basis for policy coherence and harmonization on the European research arena, and eliminate barriers to the completion of the European single market for research. Particular attention will be given to the mobility of researchers across countries and sectors, cross-border operation of research actors, research infrastructures, knowledge transfer between actors from all parts of the knowledge triangle, ERA’s international dimension, and cross-cutting governance issues.

The European Commission’s ambition is to have the measures in the future ERA Framework in force by the end of 2014 (see Innovation Union point 4)
