Excellent molecular medicine

18.09.2003
The Joint Committee of the Nordic Medical Research Councils (NOS-M) and the Nordic Council of Ministers (NMR) will launch a Nordic Centre of Excellence (NCoE) Programme in Molecular Medicine to increase the scientific quality and international visibility of Nordic research in this area.
The Programme will run during 2004-2009 and the total annual funding will be about 8 million DKK (approximately one million EURO) pending on the final decision by NMR in October.

The main objective of the NCoE Programme is to create Nordic added value by enhancing intra-Nordic research contacts and mobility of researchers. Experience in Nordic research co-operation will be an advantage when the European Research Area is realized. The NCoE Programme
funding is intended to supplement national research funding and will be available for networktype centres based on existing research units.
A NCoE is a compact and well-managed network of existing research teams from at least three Nordic countries forming a virtual centre with common objectives. The individual research teams or units should show very high or excellent scientific quality in the
field of Molecular Medicine.
