Finland: 7 million Euro for neuroscience

The Academy of Finland finances neuroscience with more than seven million Euro within the research programme NEURO. The programme covers all central areas in neuroscience, from molecular and cell biology to behaviour psychology and neuro philosophy.
A total of 170 applications were handed in and 41 projects are granted funding. The total financing of the programme is 7,155 million Euro.

Neuroscientific problems are high on the agenda internationally, which increases the importance of international cooperation. Within the programmme seven international cooperation projects are financed, in which the research focuses on memory, perception, anxiety and neurodegenerative diseases.
