Finnish government proposes 30 million Euro extra for R&D

The Finnish government proposes an addition of 30 million euro for the National Technology Agency Tekes‘ R&D financing. According to the government‘s budget proposition Tekes will be able to finance research and development for a total of 439 million Euro in 2006.
The government gave its budget proposition to the parliament on 16 September 2005. According to the budget Tekes can make financing decisions of the following:
  • research financing for universites, colleges and research institutes of 167,7 million Euro, an increase of 10,8 million euro from 2005
  • R&D contributions to the industry of 194,2 million Euro
  • R&D loans to the industry for a total of 76,8 million Euro, an increase of 5,1 million Euro from 2005.
In addition the government proposes 13,5 million Euro for analysis and development costs in project and programmes and 28 million Euro for Tekes own costs.
