Focus on women in science in Denmark

The Danish Minister of science Helge Sander and Minister of gender equality Henriette Kjær use the conference More Women in Science to focus on how Danish universitites can attract more women scientists.
The conference More Women in Science is arranged on 27th May in Landstingssalen of Christiansborg. During the conference there will be presentations by university and science management, facts on the current situation in Denmark and a presentation by the American scientist Barbara A. Lee focusing on American strategies in gender equality in academia. The speakers will present good examples for gender equality, says the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in a press release.

-Women should naturally have a better representation rate in research positions because the universities, research environments and the society are missing out on the unuses resources of highly educated and qualified women. The society cannot afford to not use all its resources, explains the Minister of gender equality Henriette Kjær.

Minister of science Helge Sander adds:
-Within the next 5-10 years there will be a massive generation shift in the university sector. The new university act stresses that the future work environment and university management must ensure a generation shift that facilitates a a career in research for both men and women.
