In an interview with Norwegian magazine Forskerforum TV presenter Gry Molvær of NRK‘s (Norwegian Broadcasting) programme Schrödingers Katt states that the Norwegian state broadcasting sends more research related programmes than do other countries‘ broadcasters.

-It is unique in an international context when NRK sends a science programme on prime time television. The Norwegian ratings, too, are exceptionally high with an average of 500.000 to 700.000 viewers every week. Above all this is a compliment to the Norwegian viewers and their interest in what is considered complicated matters, Molvær says.

The programme mostly presents science results, however Molvær sees the potential of also presenting the political and economical aspects of research:
-Journalistic methods can be applied to question the finance sources of research, the use of research and the purpose of having it presented on NRK for instance. I am not saying that we should not present research with commercial objectives but that we need to focus on these aspects, Molvær says to Forskerforum nr 1/2003.
