For the deadline of 1st November NorFA received 57 proposals for graduate schools in the humanities and social sciences. The proposals comprise many fields, and many contain both subjects from the humanities and social sciences.

The countries of origin for the graduate school proposers are as follows: 13 from Denmark, 15 from Finland, 1 from Iceland, 11 from Norway and 16 from Sweden. Half of the proposals have participants from all five Nordic countries, and the rest with few exceptions have participants from four Nordic countries. 36 of the applicants propose participation from the adjacent areas and 21 involve yet others outside the Nordic countries.

In total, the proposals involve approx. 3000 graduate students, of which 300 from the adjacent areas and 100 from other countries.

Most of the proposals can be described as thematic and/or cross-curricular, of which approx. 20 comprise both the humanities and social sciences. In total, there is a large variety in subjects and fields.

The proposals are now being processed in co-operation with the refence group.
