More women in Finnish research

36 percent of all Finnish women aged 18-64 has a university degree. The total number of doctoral degrees in Finland has doubled the past ten years and the number of women‘s degrees has tripled.

Still, even though Finland has one of the highest educated female researcher potential in Europe, men are still over-represented at the top of research hierarchy, reports the Academy of Finland in a newsletter. Even the distribution of women in different disciplines is uneven. By the end of the year an analysis of researchers‘ careers in Finland will be published by the Academy of Finland.
