New bibliometric report from NordForsk

NordForsk has issued a new, expanded version of the report “Comparing Research at Nordic Universities using Bibliometric Indicators”. This extensive report covers the years 2000–2012 and now also contains bibliometric indicators on the humanities and social sciences.

The same methodology was used as in the previous report published in 2011, but more information has been added. The report demonstrates that bibliometrics can be used to describe university performance in a more nuanced manner than many international rankings do. Methods to reveal differences in the universities’ research profiles were employed, with a focus on providing reliable, recognisable descriptions of similarities and differences in the universities’ activities, profiles and impact.
