New Danish tissue

Patients with cancer and burn damages and victims of car accidents will soon be helped by new technology. The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation invests 12,6 million DKK for a new innovation consortium for the reconstruction of human tissue.
New materials to replace skin, cartilage and bone tissue will probably be important in the reconstruction of bilogical tissue. The innovation consortium 3-D-scaffolds will be a new centre for the development of materials for tissue reconstruction. The materials are so similar to the bilogical structure of the human body that they are not easily rejected.

The consortium is cross-disciplinary and includes engineers, biologists, molekular biologists and physicians. The participating institution are the Danish Technological Institute, the University of Southern Denmark, Odense University Hospital, Bioneer AS, Coloplast Research, Danfoss A/S, Danfoss Bionics, Interface Biotech and NovoZymes.
