New direcor at NIKK

The Nordic Council of Ministers has appointed Dr Solveig Bergman from Finland to the position as Director of NIKK (Nordic Institute for Women´s Studies and Gender Research) in Oslo. Solveig Bergman is the successor of Fride Eeg-Henriksen. The new director will start in November 2003.
The Nordic Council of Ministers has appointed Dr Solveig Bergman from Finland to the position as Director of NIKK (Nordic Institute for Women´s Studies and Gender Research) in Oslo. Solveig Bergman is the successor of Fride Eeg-Henriksen. The new director will start in November 2003.

Dr Bergman was a researcher and lecturer (sociololy) at Åbo Akademi in Finland from 1995. Before that, she was the first co-ordinator of Nordic Women’s Studies (1991-94). In her research she has focused on women‘s movements and feminist organising. In 1995 and 1996 she was President of the Finnish Association for Women’s Studies (SUNS) and during the 90‘s she was an expert member of the research section of the Council for Equality between Women and Men in Finland. Last year Solveig Bergman co-ordinated an international evaluation of Finnish women’s studies and gender research carried out by the Academy of Finland.
