New Norwegian White Paper on Research

The Norwegian Government recently presented a new white paper on research. Important goals are to raise total investments in research to three per cent of GDP by 2010 and to increase the Fund for Research and Innovation to NOK 50 billion.
The white paper, which is entitled “Commitment to Research”, outlines three general priority areas up until 2010: internationalization, strengthening of basic research, and measures to boost innovation.

In addition to these general priority areas, the white paper focuses on increased R&D investments in industry, measures designed to make research positions at universities and university colleges more attractive and measures to secure quality and long-term skills-development in research institutes.
