NOK 25 million to new Nordic Centre of Excellence for research on teaching quality in Nordic classrooms

The Nordic programme on educational research, Education for Tomorrow, is now entering its second phase. In this phase, NordForsk will fund a new Nordic Centre of Excellence which will focus on teaching quality in Nordic classrooms. The new centre is a collaboration between Nordic researchers.

The 10 grant applications received were assessed by international experts. The center selected for funding will receive a total of roughly NOK 25 million. The centre, that will receive funding, is:

The Nordic Centre of Excellence is funded by Academy of Finland, The Swedish Research Council, The Research Council of Norway, The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (Iceland), Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and NordForsk.

About Education for Tomorrow, the Nordic programme on educational research

The programme was launched in response to a proposal by the Nordic Council of Ministers for Education and Research (MR-U). Six research projects (2013–2016) and one Nordic Centre of Excellence (2013–2018) were funded during Phase I.

In Phase I research has been conducted on topics and themes such as transitions within and between education and work, equity, equality and social justice, marginalisation, organisational development and professionalism, governance and systems.

Phase II of the programme (2017–2023) focuses on bridging research and practice in the area of teaching and learning in new learning environments. During this phase, funding will be awarded to a Nordic Centre of Excellence, in addition to the three above-mentioned research projects.
