Nordic co-operation in agricultural research
The agricultural research environments are facing increasing demands, for example regarding food safety. Meanwhile, politicians all over the Nordic countries are reducing funds for agricultural reseach. The Nordic ministers for agriculture therefore see the necessity of a common Nordic agricultural university.
The academic agricultural environments in each country are scattered, which prevents an effective use of resources. P.t. Secretary General at the Ministry of Agriculture Føydis Vold, head of the Nordic working group, concludes that a common Nordic university is needed. She hopes that this can become a model for a more general Nordic university co-operation.
