In the first phase, proposals for research cooperation have been invited by NordForsk as part of the currently open call within the Top-level Research Initiative: Green growth in an Era of Climate Change. The programme will also provide seed money for involving Russian partners in the already established Nordic Centres of Excellence within Effect Studies and Adaptation to Climate Change and Interaction between Climate Change and the Cryosphere. Pilots focusing on the Arctic region are also foreseen.

The programme will run for three years and aims to promote multifaceted contacts in the fields of education and research in the interests of sustainable social and economic development in Russia and the Nordic countries, and to initiate long-term partnerships between the involved institutions and organizations.
