"Norway needs more research on the northern areas"

The fact that Norway faces a lot of challenges in the northern areas, implies a need for strengthened research on several areas, means The Research Council of Norway.
Granting NOK 100 million are among the proposals from the council in connection to the International Polar Year in 2007.

The ending of the cold war, the normalising of the relationship with Russia and the oil industry in the northern areas, are all reasons why Norway are going to meet it’s biggest regional challenges in the northern areas in the years to come.
