Norway takes over Nordic presidency

Norway takes over the presidency of the Nordic Council of Minister from January 1, 2006. The importance of research and innovation is strongly underlined in the leadership programme.
“Knowledge and innovation are essential to growth. Working together on research and innovation im-proves competitiveness in the international market, and this is especially the case for small countries. Closer Nordic co-operation can broaden our knowledge base and increase expertise in strategic areas” the programme says.

The programme also underlines the importance of following up on the process of change currently being implemented in Nordic research co-operation, and the importance of strengthening NordForsk.

Minister responsible for cooperation is Norway’s Minister of Modernisation, Heidi Grande Røys.
