In its programme for education and reseach the Norwegian Ministry of Education, Research and Church Affairs states that cooperation in the field of research will build on the vision of The Nordic Council of Research Policy regarding the Nordic countries as an area of research excellence.
In its programme for education and reseach the Norwegian Ministry of Education, Research and Church Affairs states that cooperation in the field of research will build on the vision of The Nordic Council of Research Policy regarding the Nordic countries as an area of research excellence.

The Ministry says that the advanced Nordic cooperation in the field of research must be developed further in order to provide a starting-point for extension towards Europe and internationallly. During the Norwegian presidency, the following matters will be of special importance:
  • Implementation of a pilot project on Nordic centres of excellence
  • Development and extension of the cooperation on Nordic education for researchers, f. ex. by systematically using the NorFA arrangements
  • Examination of the Nordisk Forskningspolitisk Strategi from 1998
  • Enabling extended dialogs between the committees for higher education and research, and between these committees and the civil servants‘ committee for education and research
