Norwegian research fraud: Did not read article

None of the co-authors of the article on cancer based on manufactured data did in fact read the manuscript, admits the director of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Rikshospitalet University Hospital Åge Danielsen. The article was published in The Lancet.
In the article the researcher based his findings on manufactured data. The hospital director now admits the lack of routines regarding the publishing of research results:
"If the hospital had had good routines for examining manuscripts before they were sent to journals, this incident would have been detected", the director writes in a report to the Norwegian Board of Health.

The hospital will now introduce new procedures. The researchers will no longer be allowed to write and publish articles without the approval of the hospital management.
