Open Calls: Researcher networks and Research training courses

21.01.2011
NordForsk opens two new calls today: Research Training Courses and Researcher Networks. Deadlines for applications are respectively March 16th and April 6th 2011.
Research Training Courses
NordForsk invites applications for funding for research training courses (PhD) from research- and higher educational institutions in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The objective is to offer research training in specific fields where the number of qualified students cannot be reached in one country alone. The courses can be held within all scientific areas.

The research training courses usually take place in the Nordic or the Baltic countries, and should be specialised intensive courses (minimum 5 days) for PhD students and young researchers (at postdoctoral level).

Deadline for applications: March 16th at 16:00 CET. Applications are to be written in English.

Researcher networks
NordForsk aims to bring together prominent research groups in the Nordic and Baltic countries in order to strengthen and increase the quality of research and research training.

A network may receive a maximum of NOK 900.000 over a period of up to three years. The funding should primarily be spent on networking activities such as travel and meeting costs, use of infrastructure/equipment but not on purchasing equipment per se. Up to 25% of the grant may be used for collaborative partners outside the Nordic region

The networks should aim at establishing joint research training in a given field, consolidate research as a basis for joint European or international projects, and thereby establish excellence in its field of research.

It is important that PhD students and young researchers participate actively and that the networks results in constructive cooperation extending beyond the period of NordForsk financing.

Applications within all fields of research are welcome. However, NordForsk encourages applicants to collaborate on:

• Joint Nordic use of Research Infrastructure
• Nordic Culture, Languages and inter-Nordic Communication
• Research on Nordic Cooperation
Further details about these areas are found in the call description.

Deadline for applications: April 6th 2011 at 16:00 CET. Applications are to be written in English.
