Pre-announcement within the Top-level Research Initiative

02.07.2009
The Top-level Research Initiative is launching a call for Nordic Networks within the subprogramme “Effect studies and adaptation to climate change” in August 2009.
The Top-level Research Initiative is the largest joint Nordic research and innovation initiative to date. In addition to being a Nordic contribution towards solving the global climate crisis, the initiative intends to promote research and innovation within the region.

The subprogramme “Effect studies and adaptation to climate change” aims to create knowledge about the effects of climate change, about the society’s need for adaptation, and about the possibilities that some effects of climate change may provide the Nordic region.

A Nordic Network brings together prominent research groups from at least 3 Nordic countries in order to strengthen and increase the quality of research and research training at the Nordic, European and international levels. Interdisciplinary applications are encouraged. Participants from industry, policy makers and societal actors should be included in the Nordic Network when relevant.

The Top-level Research Initiative intends to fund 10 Nordic Networks within the subprogramme. Each Network may receive up to NOK 300.000 per year for up to three years. The grant covers direct costs for various forms of cooperation (as workshops, conferences, seminars, researcher training courses) including direct administrative costs (max 10 % of the grant).

The expected deadline for applications is end of November 2009.

It is planned to publish a call for Nordic Centers of Excellence within the subprogramme by the end 2009.
