Productive Finnish researchers in natural sciences and engineering

A new report from the Academy of Finland shows that the researchers they finance within natural sciences and engineering are productive in terms of scientific, economic and social impact.
This is clearly shown in the report "Research in natural sciences and engineering funded by the Academy of Finland:
Assessment of impact of projects". The report forms part of a series called SIGHT2006 - publications on state, level and impact of Finnish research.

The report shows that investments in natural sciences and engineering have resulted in more efficient production of internationally referred publications, compared to an average of scientific outcomes at Finnish universities. The Academy draws the conclusion that money spent on basic research in the natural sciences and engineering is very fruitful also compared to financing of applied research.
