Research important issue in Finnish chairmanship programme

Finland holds the chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2007. Finland stresses the importance of research and innovation by offering its support for the organisations NordForsk and NICe.
The chairmanship programme also stresses the importance of protecting the Baltic Sea ecologically and as an international trade area. They support the research programme BONUS-169, planned in connection with the EU‘s 7th frame programme for research.

Art and design research are prioritised areas for Finland in 2007. The innovation and industry sectors are important areas in this field.

Sustainable delvelopment and the aging population are other important themes in the research paragraph of the chairmanship programme.
