Researchers celebrate Linnaeus

Carl von Linnaeus is one of the most famous Swedish researchers of all time. The year 2007 marks his 300th anniversary, which will be celebrated at universities across Sweden. Linnaeus was not only a botanist, but also a zoologist, geologist, medical doctor and philosopher.
Carl von Linnaeus (1707-1778) named an entire era, characterised by curiosity and the desire to classify and name all of nature‘s elements. In 2007 there will be Linnaeus events at universities, university colleges and other scientific institutions across Sweden and abroad. The researchers will commemorate his life and work through lectures, seminars, experiments, courses and exhibitions. The anniversary is initiated in Vaxjo on 28th January, Linnaeus‘ birthday is celebrated in Uppsala on 23rd May and the anniversary ends on 15th December in the ice hotel of Jukkasjärvi.
