Sweden: Women prosper in culture and health research

23.03.2006
The Swedish Research Council has granted five million SEK for research on culture‘s impact on human health. Seven out of nine to receive funding are women.
It becomes increasingly obvious that not only medical research gives insight into human health. It turns out that cultural, economical and social factors have great impact on our well-being.

"It is really a great variety of research projects soon to start up through the culture and health programme", says Torbjörn Lind from the humanities and social sciences department of the research council.
"We have representatives from the entire scale, from medical to aesthetical research. Meny young researchers, in particular women, have great results in this election process. This indicates that the research field is up and coming", Lind comments.
