Two projects funded within the programme ”Sustainable Freight and Logistics in a Nordic Context”

Two projects will be funded within the programme “Sustainable Freight and Logistics in a Nordic Context”. The decision was made at the NordForsk Board Meeting April 14th.
The freight and logistics research programme is based on true cooperation across the Nordic borders, focusing on major societal needs, strengthening the competitiveness of freight transport, creating know-how and building stronger cooperation between research communities, industry, and ministries in a Nordic context.

Two projects will be funded based on a call from June 2009, using a two step application procedure continuing in February 2010. The two projects are:

• “Management, design and evaluation of sustainable freight and logistics systems” with Project Leader Johan Marklund at Lund University

• “LogiNord; Sustainable logistics in Nordic fresh food supply chains”, with Project Leader Heidi Carin Dreyer at SINTEF

16 applications were received in total in the first round, and the competition was strong among the six projects in the final step of the process.
