Hydrothermal systems and energy

This research training course on earth sciences focuses on volcanic hydrothermal systems.

The main aims of the courses are to:

  • bring together experts, junior scientists and graduate students in the field of hydrothermal chemistry, physics and mineralogy in order to advance our understanding on volcanic hydrothermal systems and hydrothermal systems in general as well as heat, fluid and matter transport and interactions
  • explore the chemistry and physics of hydrothermal systems by incorporating understanding from active and fossil systems and theory
  • explore the utilization of hydrothermal energy in the Nordic countries
  • compare active hydrothermal systems in Iceland and ore formation with ore deposits in other locations of the North Atlantic Province
