Nordita School in Theoretical Particle Physics

The course discusses the most important developments in theoretical particle physics, giving first the necessary background and then discussing them in detail. It gives a global overview of what is happening in theoretical particle physics and provides technical tools to proceed further. Also master students in particle physics can strongly profit from attending.

The course contains 11 days of effective teaching. It will cover both the most theoretical aspects of field and string theory and those connected with the Standard Model, with the physics beyond the Standard Model and with cosmology.

The programme includes lectures in:

  1. Introduction to strings and D-branes (5 hours)
  2. Standard Model (2 hours)
  3. Physics beyond the Standard Model (6 hours)
  4. Cosmology (4 hours)
  5. Anomalies and non-perturbative aspects of field theory (5 hours)
  6. Basic AdS/CFT (4 hours)
  7. Neutrino and axion physics (3 hours)
  8. Super symmetry breaking and mediation mechanisms (4 hours)
  9. Applications of AdS/CFT (3 hours)
  10. 4-dimensional black holes (6 hours)
  11. Experimental search of quantum gravity (2 hours)
