The Nordic Research Network on the Mediatisation of Religion and Culture (MRC)

This network focuses on the increased interconnectedness between media, religious activities and beliefs, and broader cultural dynamics.

Both media, religion and culture are subject to rapid transformations. One prominent feature of these changes is the increased interconnectedness between media, religious activities and beliefs, and the broader cultural dynamics both within the Nordic countries and on a global scale.

The cultural and symbolic exchanges and interactions between media, religion, and culture are very complex and diverse, but it is possible to discern some developments in which religion and culture become subject to processes of mediatisation.

Comprising more than 50 researchers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the MRC-network includes a range of academic disciplines and institutions.

The MRC-network provides an important forum for the future development of the cross-disciplinary research on the mediatisation of religion and culture.
