Towards a common past?

Memory Studies is a new research area in arts and social science that has developed rapidly in recent years. It is interdisciplinary in character and is about analysing how history and memories of the past are presented and used in society, primarily in an existential and political context.

Several Nordic universities already have local networks for Memory Studies (Lund, Karlstad, Stavanger) and research groups with a keen interest in this subject area (Copenhagen) who are achieving very good results. This network unites these environments into a Nordic network, working together to strengthen the position of this new research area and make Nordic memory research more visible internationally.
