Energies of the High North - Arctic Frontiers 2012

Arctic Frontiers 2012 will discuss the global energy outlook, and assess the potential of traditional and renewable energy resources in the North.

The fundamental issues addressed at the sixth Arctic Frontiers conference will be:

  • How does the global energy outlook affect the High North?
  • How should energy resources in the High North be utilized to meet the world's energy demand?
  • What kind of technology must be developed to ensure a sustainable utilization of energy resources in the High North?
  • How does this impact the northern countries and local communities and their way of living?

Science section

The scientific section of Arctic Frontiers 2012 will commence with a Wednesday morning session of overview presentations on the potential of existing and new possible resources of energy in the North, followed by a plenary discussion. On the afternoon of Wednesday 25th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th four parallel sessions, focusing on non-renewable and renewable / alternative energy, are planned. A poster session with approx. 100 posters is also planned.
