Nordic Committee on Bioethics Conference: Lifestyle diseases - Responsibility and Ethics

The aim of the conference is to clarify the concept of lifestyle disease and its interaction with ethical dimensions of governance. The conference will be organised in cooperation with the University of Helsinki Centre for Research on Addiction, Control and Governance (CEACG).

Non-communicable diseases, such as heart diseases, stroke, and Type II diabetes, are associated with behavioral choices – and may be prevented and treated by changes in diet, environment, and lifestyle. The Nordic countries are known to regulate lifestyles on macro level in a manner that channels solidarity and altruism on the individual level. 

The aim of the conference is to clarify the concept of lifestyle disease and its interaction with ethical dimensions of governance. The conference will be organised in cooperation with the University of Helsinki Centre for Research on Addiction, Control and Governance (CEACG).

The conference is free of charge, but the participants pay their own travel and accommodation costs.
