New report: Key results and impact of interdisciplinary research

A key aim of the initiative for Interdisciplinary Research was to promote excellent bottom-up research that combined and integrated skills from multiple disciplines.

Twelve research projects were funded under this call, spanning a range of different topics, including social robots, migration law, pandemics, avalanches, forest policies and MRSA infections. The new report highlights the key outputs, impact and key findings of these twelve research projects.

Arne Flåøyen, Director of NordForsk says:

“I believe it is safe to say that the initiative has been a success, and that this is demonstrated by the results and outcomes that are documented in this report. The projects have generated new knowledge and new insights on many different areas of research, that might not have happened without this funding initiative.”

Bjørnar Solhaug Komissar, Special Adviser and responsible for the call on interdisciplinary research says:

“Many thanks to the national funding agencies for the collaboration on this Nordic initiative, and to the projects and the researchers for making the results happen. Much has been achieved, both scientifically and in strengthening cross-border research collaboration in our region. It’s been a pleasure to work on this initiative together with the call committee.”

The projects received funding from Research Council of Norway, Swedish Research Council, Forte, Formas, Independent Research Fund Denmark, Research Council of Finland and Rannís.
