This year, we achieved a 92 % response rate from 125 active projects, giving us a representative overview of our active research portfolio. These projects have reported 2,911 publications and 2,894 dissemination activities cumulatively, showing strong scientific output and active engagement with society. We also counted 511 collaborations and partnerships and 216 awards and recognitions, demonstrating the competitiveness and quality of Nordic research.
In addition, our projects have reported 214 cases of further funding and 195 documented influences on policy, patients, practice, and the public.
“There is growing interest in strengthening Nordic collaboration in many areas, and I sense a renaissance in Nordic research cooperation. Contributing to create Nordic Added Value is NordForsk’s reason to be. In recent years, we have therefore placed great emphasis on clarifying what is meant by Nordic Added Value in research cooperation”, says NordForsk’s Director Arne Flåøyen.

“We know that this is information many read with great interest, and it helps maintain the support and trust of Nordic politicians and partners in NordForsk’s work,” Flåøyen continues.
We also feature impact stories, which give a narrative complement to the numbers. These stories highlight concrete examples of impact, from improving cancer survivor care and developing sustainable farming methods, to strengthening climate preparedness in small communities and providing evidence for refugee integration policies.
“The data is collected annually from project leaders and entered into our database, which feeds directly into our analytical tools. This setup enables efficient analysis of key indicators, their development over time, and their relationships with each other. To ensure transparency, we make the aggregated results openly available through our impact dashboard”, Analytics Officer Simon Jernroth notes.
With the 2025 Impact Report, we showcase how Nordic research cooperation strengthens scientific quality and delivers concrete benefits to society. You are welcome to deep dive into the data through our Impact Dashboard and gain further insights by joining our impact webinar on the 24th of September.
