The university cooperation has been initiated in order to support research-based university cooperation across the Nordic region, to increase researcher mobility, enhance research capacity and competence building and thereby the excellence and significance of Nordic research cooperation.
The applicant must be a Nordic university, university college or university of applied sciences, and each consortium must include at least three partners from the university sector from at least three Nordic countries. Beyond this, the consortia may include partners from other sectors and countries, but these partners must fund their own participation. The Nordic university partners must provide resources equalling twice the amount of funding sought from NordForsk.
Funding is available to proposals on all themes and disciplines. However, the university cooperation should be of strategic importance to the collaborating universities. Moreover, the projects must contribute to Nordic added value by enhancing Nordic strengths, enhancing scientific excellence and Nordic competitiveness in international research, and/or addressing needs or problems that are of special relevance to the Nordic countries.
