University Co-operation

Objectives

This initiative aims to support research-based university cooperation across the Nordic region, increase researcher mobility, enhance research capacity, and build competence, thereby boosting the expertise and significance of Nordic research collaboration.

Background

The two calls that NordForsk has issued within this focus area have been open to all thematic areas and scientific disciplines, with a clear expectation that they were strategically important for the participating universities.

An important prerequisite has been that the universities themselves contribute funds to establish and operate the consortium's work. The funding follows the principle of NordForsk's financing, where 1/3 of the funds come from NordForsk, while the university consortium itself contributes 2/3.

Funding

The available budget for the latest call within the scope of University Co-operation was NOK 300 million, NOK 100 million from NordForsk and NOK 200 million NOK provided by the institutions. The total NordForsk funding allocated to the call is maximum NOK 20 million annually and will be available for 5 years, 2024-2028.

The funding for Nordic University Hubs was NOK 10 million per year for the period 2018-2020 and NOK 5 million per year for the period 2021-2023.
