New Infrastructure Hubs Granted Funding

The overall objective is to strengthen international competitiveness and facilitate the development of world-leading Nordic Research Infrastructure (RI) Hub environments based on relevant research and research infrastructure priorities.

NordForsk received 51 applications by the deadline on 21 May 2025 to the call for Nordic Research Infrastructure Hubs.

Now, 11 networks will share up to NOK 180 million.

277 researchers are involved, representing 63 institutions and 11 countries.

Special Adviser Bjørnar Solhaug Komissar says:

“It’s been a great pleasure to work on this call together with the Nordic Research Infrastructure Co-operation Committee (NRICC), and I am looking forward to the eleven funded research infrastructure hubs to get started. This is an initiative that is co-funded by NordForsk and the institutions themselves,” and continues:

“The requirement of a minimum of 2/3 own funding is significant, and I believe the broad interest in the call demonstrates both the need for and interest in cross-border research infrastructure collaboration in the Nordic region. There is no doubt that these collaborations will strengthen the quality and capacity of research infrastructures and bring about much added value for the Nordic research communities.”
