CyberResilient-Nordic is a cross-sector Nordic research network uniting expertise from energy, aviation, and maritime sectors to advance cyber resilience and digital sovereignty in Critical Infrastructures (CIs). Led by Early-Career Researchers (ECRs) from the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) and NTNU (Norway), Linköping University (Sweden), and Aalto University (Finland), the initiative establishes scientific exchange, academia-industry collaboration, and competence-building across the Nordic region.
CIs are rapidly digitalizing and becoming increasingly interlinked, creating efficiency gains but also expanding vulnerabilities. Geopolitical tensions, new Arctic trade routes, and global supply chains further increase exposure to complex cyber-physical threats. CyberResilient-Nordic addresses this challenge by connecting siloed sectors through joint activities, knowledge sharing, and hands-on training.
The network’s core activities include:
- Industrial Workshops to engage stakeholders and align solutions with operational needs.
- Summer Schools & Capture-The-Flag competitions for practical, cross-sector training.
- Short-Term Researcher Exchanges to facilitate joint publications and collaborations.
- Strategic Proposal Workshops to prepare competitive Nordic/EU funding proposals.
Deliverables will include three workshop reports, two training packages, ten mobility reports, two strategic proposal blueprints, peer-reviewed publications, and a Nordic roadmap for cross-sector cyber resilience and sovereignty.
ECRs lead all work packages, advised by senior experts and an external reference group. This project promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion, and complies with GDPR and national data protection laws. By building enduring cross-border partnerships and aligning with Nordic and European priorities, CyberResilient-Nordic will create a lasting foundation for protecting CIs from current and emerging threats.
