The proposed project deals with high-resolution measurements of the lifetime of magnetic excitations in simple (quantum) magnets and of lattice vibrations (phonons) in the nominally well-understood simple-metal superconductors. The results will be compared with model calculations, which are density functional theory (DFT) calculations for phonons, and concepts beyond linear spin wave theory for quantum magnets. The results will be essential for the understanding of basic notions in quantum effects in magnetism, as well as in the foundations of superconductivity in simple metals.

A new NordForsk report outlines an action plan towards implementing a Nordic secure digital infrastructure for health data - the Nordic Commons. The report is the outcome of two-year effort aiming to propose ways to increase Nordic cooperation on health data.
The plan is to fund five or six infrastructure consortia or hubs. The decision regarding which projects that will be awarded funding will be made late spring 2020.
During the past ten years, NordForsk has contributed with NOK 2124 million to Nordic reseach cooperation by funding 323 research projects, shows a new report. The largest percentage of funding has gone to research within Medical and Health Sciences and Natural and Social Sciences.
