The formal cooperation between the Nordic countries is amongst the oldest and most extensive regional cooperation in the world. The cooperation is built on common values and a willingness to achieve results that contribute to a dynamic development and increase Nordic competencies and competitiveness. Nordic added value is a cornerstone in the Nordic cooperation.
The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Secretariat has commissioned NordForsk to support research on the recent development of Nordic cooperation, giving insights into how Nordic cooperation has been handled and promoted through institutions such as the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers. How has Nordic added value been understood and used as a conceptual framework by different actors in the Nordic cooperation? What are the current and future challenges in Nordic cooperation, especially in relation to the vision to make the Nordic region the most integrated and sustainable region in the world by 2030?
The project(s) under this research area are expected to build on previous mappings of different uses of Nordic added value and discuss relevant and useful definitions for future use. The results can guide the Nordic Council of Ministers in formulating goals and activities in relation to Vision 2030.
The aim of the Nordic Added Value projects is to build a research-based understanding of Nordic added value and to get a set of common standards for establishing Nordic added value as a success criterion when assessing potential projects and programs.
